Council's annual smoking ceremony

A senior member of the Darug community will hold a Smoking Ceremony at the beginning of Council's first meeting for 2020 on Tuesday, 11 February.

A Smoking Ceremony is one of the most significant ancient ceremonies performed by Aboriginal people. The Smoking Ceremony involves smouldering various native plants to produce smoke which are believed to have cleansing properties and the ability to ward off bad spirits.

A Welcome to Country will be followed by the Smoking Ceremony, commencing at 6:15pm on the front lawn near the flag poles outside the Council Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor.

The Council Meeting will then commence in Council Chambers at 6:30pm.

All members of the public are welcome to attend.
