Devonport City Council is inviting the community to help shape the future of two important community precincts, with new Master Plans being developed for the East Devonport Recreation and Function Centre (EDRFC) and Girdlestone Park in East Devonport, and Maidstone Park in Spreyton. These Master Plans will provide a clear long-term vision, ensuring the precincts remain vibrant, inclusive, and adaptable to the needs of a growing and diverse community.
The plans will strengthen opportunities for sport, recreation, and community life, improve facilities, make better use of spaces, and create safe, welcoming, and flexible precincts that foster connection and wellbeing. Each plan will be shaped by community input, with Council encouraging residents, visitors, clubs and local businesses to share their ideas and priorities.
Mayor Jarman said community input is essential to ensuring the Master Plans reflect local needs and aspirations. "These precincts are already important hubs for local sport, recreation, and community life. By hearing directly from the people who use them - or would like to in the future - we can make sure they continue to thrive for decades to come," Mayor Jarman said.
Two separate surveys have been created so people can provide feedback on the precinct most relevant to them - or both.
