Council encourages community members such as parents and carers, younger job seekers, people seeking supplementary income, individuals returning to the workforce, members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities and retirees to consider applying for the role.

Council's Manager People and Development Karen Liversidge said School Crossing Supervisor positions provide meaningful employment while allowing people to balance other commitments.

"Many people don't realise how flexible and rewarding this role can be," she said.

"School Crossing Supervisors help create safer journeys for local children and families every day, while enjoying short shifts before and after school that may fit around family, study and other responsibilities."

No previous experience is required, with comprehensive training and support provided to successful applicants.

"We are seeking applications from people who are reliable, enjoy interacting with the community and are committed to helping keep children safe," Ms Liversidge said.

Council's Coordinator Safer Communities Linda Anderson said the role offered an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the community.

"School Crossing Supervisors are often a familiar and trusted presence in school communities," she said.

Community members interested in learning more are invited to attend a School Crossing Supervisor Information Session on Tuesday 27 October 2026, 1pm to 2pm and Thursday 29 October 2026, 10am to 11am at Council Offices, 90 Welsford St, Shepparton.

The session will provide an opportunity to learn about the role, employment requirements and application process.

Those interested are encouraged to apply through Council's online recruitment portal.

Applications open 28 October and close at midnight on 13 November 2026.
