Council To Manage Marysville Community Centre

Murrindindi Shire Council is now managing the hire, bookings and ongoing operation of the Marysville Community Centre, following the transition of responsibility from the outgoing Community Asset Committee.

Council wishes to thank the volunteers from the Community Asset Committee who managed the Centre until 31 May 2026. While the Marysville Community Centre is a highly valued community asset, it is also a large and complex facility to manage, and this has ultimately become too challenging for community volunteers alone.

Council has been working with the Community Asset Committee volunteers to support a smooth transition to Council's existing facility management and hire arrangements. This change brings the Centre in line with other Council-managed facilities, providing consistent systems, support and access for users. Council is working with user groups to migrate existing bookings into the new system.

Current hire rates for the Marysville Community Centre will be held until the end of the financial year. After that, Council's standard hire rates will apply, as they do for other Council-managed facilities.

Cr Anita Carr, Council's Integrity, Finance and Engagement Portfolio Councillor, said the change reflects Council's ongoing commitment to supporting community access to shared facilities.

"The Marysville Community Centre is an important community asset, and Council is focused on ensuring it continues to be accessible and welcoming for everyone who uses it," Cr Carr said.

"We also acknowledge the contribution of the community members and volunteers who have supported the Centre over time, and we look forward to building on that work as Council takes on this role."

Information about the Centre's facilities, hire options and the online booking form is available on our Marysville Community Centre page.

Council looks forward to continuing to support the Marysville community by ensuring the Community Centre remains available for community use.
