Council Unveils Miller St Awnings, Facades Grant

Gilgandra Shire Council

Gilgandra Shire Council is inviting local businesses to revitalise the Gilgandra Central Business District (CBD) through a new grant program designed to enhance the appearance and vibrancy of Miller Street.

Council secured funding through the NSW Government's Community Improvement District (CID) Pilot Program to deliver the Meet Me @ Miller Street project: supporting a series of inventions within the CBD, including the BIG Ideas: Miller Street Awnings and Facade Grant.

The BIG Ideas: Miller Street Awnings and Facade Grant will provide successful businesses with funding of up to $10,000 to improve shopfront awnings and building facades along Miller Street. The initiative aims to support local businesses with strengthening the overall streetscape and visitor experience in Gilgandra's main street.

Under the program, businesses located between 2-76 Miller Street can apply for funding to undertake improvements such as facade upgrades, awning enhancements, and other visual improvements that contribute to a more attractive and welcoming main street environment.

The grant operates on a dollar-for-dollar co-contribution basis, meaning successful applicants must match Council's funding with their own investment.

As part of the application process, businesses are encouraged to speak with Council's Marketing and Communications Team prior to applying to discuss their project ideas and ensure they meet program requirements.

Applications for the BIG Ideas: Miller Street Awnings and Facade Grant open Tuesday, 17 March 2026 and close Monday, 13 April 2026 at 5.00pm.
