The NSW Electoral Commission has today listed Tuesday 9 December as the date for the Ward 1 countback election following the resignation of Jason Cox last week.
The countback process is conducted by the Electoral Commission and applies to people who stood as a candidate for Ward 1 in the September 2024 Local Government election and were not originally elected. Candidate applications will open on Monday 24 November and close Thursday 4 December.
There is no requirement for Shoalhaven residents to vote on the day, with the preference data from ballot papers from the previous Council election to be used.
Information about the countback election process is available on the NEC website: Countback elections - NSW Electoral Commission.
