Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens

A contemporary new hotel at the gateway to the city's internationally renowned sporting, cultural and epicurean attractions.

Melbourne, Australia, 17 March 2022 – Courtyard by Marriott, part of the Marriott International hotel portfolio, today welcomes the arrival of its first Melbourne property – Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens. Centrally located in Batman Street and adjacent to the picturesque Flagstaff Gardens, the 150-room new hotel is set to become a stylish oasis for guests to elevate their travel experience.

Located a short distance from some of Melbourne's premier sporting venues (including Marvel Stadium), Queen Victoria Market and tranquil green spaces, Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens is the perfect choice for business and leisure travellers who value a vibrant and active lifestyle.

"We are thrilled to be bringing the Courtyard by Marriott brand to Melbourne – with the inclusion of this location, we are on track to offering 10 operational hotels in the Melbourne market and more than 30 across the country by the end of this year," Marriott Area Vice President for Australia, New Zealand & Pacific, Sean Hunt said.

Architecturally designed by Skematics with interiors by DKO Architecture, Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens takes inspiration from its urban city edge location neighbouring Melbourne's oldest public park, seamlessly interweaving bluestone tiles, textured timber, steel and brass accents with soft furnishings and photography referencing the nearby historic gardens.

Entering the ground floor lobby, guests are welcomed by a central landscaped courtyard evoking a sense of calm and serenity which flows through to the guestrooms and suites. Timber floors, porcelain tiles, daybeds and residential styling make the new hotel a perfect oasis for travellers needing an escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.

"The hotel's 150 thoughtfully designed rooms and suites reflect the Courtyard by Marriott's brand's emphasis on style, comfort and functionality, and incorporate locally inspired design elements – creating a connection to the surrounding community," said General Manager, Carolyn Smith.

"Whether you're here for work or play or a combination of both, our focus is on providing a space where you can relax, recharge and reset and have everything you need to make the most of your time in Melbourne."

The contemporary rooms and suites are fully equipped with an array of amenities including flat-screen televisions, comfortable work desks and high-speed internet access.

Drawing inspiration from local and international fare, the hotel's two dining venues include a restaurant on Level 1 serving gourmet buffet breakfast and a café on the ground floor which transforms into a bar by night.

The street facing Level Grounds Café & Bar is sure to be a hit with coffee connoisseurs who appreciate top-notch blends. The all day dining grab and go menu offers a gourmet selection of light meals for those on the run.

In the evening Level Grounds is the perfect place to savour a signature cocktail or glass of wine while indulging in share plates and tapas.

The spacious fitness centre on level two offers round the clock access and is decked out with state-of-the-art Matrix cardio equipment. Guests can keep up their healthy routines in the dedicated cardio zone and workout area that opens to an outdoor courtyard for fresh air and views.

Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens is ideally outfitted for corporate conferences, meetings and social events, with four versatile function spaces accommodating up to 200 guests, and a one-of-a-kind rooftop entertaining area looking out to sweeping cityscape views. The function spaces feature abundant natural light as well as the latest audio-visual equipment for impactful presentations, with dedicated event planners on-site to provide guidance.

The hotel is a short walk or tram ride away from the city's renowned attractions, including iconic sport and entertainment stadiums, art and culture institutions, stylish shopping precincts, beautiful arcades and laneways, top restaurants, and picturesque parks.

Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens' opening coincides with the beginning of autumn which means all the beautiful colours of the Flagstaff Gardens are on show and the city is embracing the start of the AFL and NRL season as well as a jam-packed major events calendar, including the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show and Comedy Festival.
