COVID-19 fines issued to group of people at Burton, South Australia

Another large group of people have received COVID-19 expiation notices after a group of cars were reported doing burnouts in Burton last night.

It will be alleged that about 10.25pm on Saturday 18 April, patrols were called to Hatcher Court after reports of 13 cars gathered in the dead-end street. None of the cars were doing burnouts upon police arrival.

A patrol car blocked the entrance to the street, while other police arrived and spoke with the group of drivers and passengers.

23 people were issued fines, and one person was issued a caution for being in a non-essential gathering under the COVID-19 restrictions. Three of the cars were defected by police.

Under current South Australian COVID-19 Directions - Gatherings of more than 10 people, including at residences, indoors or outdoors are prohibited.

Police encourage the public to report suspected breaches of the self-isolation, crowd gathering or social distancing directions via the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
