Western Australia has recorded one new case of COVID-19 overnight.
The man in his 40s was employed by a Department of Health-contracted service provider at one of the hotels being used to quarantine overseas travellers returning to Perth.
The man, who did recently complete shifts at the hotel, is now isolating at home. All close contacts have been, or are being, contacted by the Department and told to self-isolate.
There is an ongoing investigation to determine how this case contracted the virus - as happens with all cases.
Due to patient confidentiality, the Department will not be providing any further detail on individual cases.
The State's COVID-19 total now stands at 553. There are seven active cases across the State - one is in regional WA.
Of the State's active cases, six are from Western Australia and one is from interstate.
In Western Australia 537 people have now recovered from the virus.
There are two confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals. One of these patients is in ICU.
Yesterday, 720 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics, and of these 663 were assessed and 657 were swabbed.
To date there have been 56,226 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 9,973 tests were carried out in regional WA.
