COVID-19 update - 16 April 2020

The Department of Health has today reported three new cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State's total to 535.

All three cases are in metropolitan Perth. Two cases are related to cruise ships, one from the Artania and one from the Costa Victoria. One case is still under investigation.

As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway to ensure all close contacts are notified and advised of the requirement for them to self-isolate.

There are currently 33 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, 8 of whom are in ICU.

To date, 25,088 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19. Of these 5,279 are from regional WA.

WA has 340 recovered cases.
