COVID-19 update - 6 April 2020

The Department of Health has confirmed a fourth COVID-19 related death in Western Australia.

A man in his 80s – who was a passenger from the cruise ship Ruby Princess – died overnight at Royal Perth Hospital.

The Department reported seven new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the State's total to 460.

Of these confirmed cases six are from metropolitan Perth and one is from the Kimberley region.

Six of today's cases are related to cruise ships, including the Artania, Costa Victoria and Sun Princess, and one is related to overseas travel.

As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway.

There are currently 58 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, with 18 in ICU.

To date, 18,266 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19. Of these 2,755 are from regional WA.

WA has 163 recovered cases.
