Covid - Charges in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have laid multiple charges against a woman in relation to a road incident yesterday morning.

Shortly before 11am, officers on patrol at East Point Reserve observed a vehicle parked in the middle of the road with a person sitting behind the wheel.

On attempting to engage the female driver, she allegedly became aggressive and drove off at speed. Police engaged in a short pursuit that was quickly terminated.

The driver was apprehended soon afterward on Tiger Brennan Drive near Berrimah Rd. The vehicle was at this point being driven on three tyres and one rim.

The 37-year-old woman was conveyed to Palmerston Watch House and has been charged with:

  • Contravention of emergency declaration
  • Assault police
  • Drive manner dangerous
  • Drive unsafe motor vehicle

She has been bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 1 September 2021.
