Covid Jab Appointments Now Online For Territory Kids

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government has expanded the vaccine rollout to now include Pfizer bookings for eligible kids aged 12-15 in the Territory.

Eligible children aged 12-15 in Greater Darwin and all other children aged 12 and above living in the Northern Territory are eligible to book their appointment at an NT Health COVID-19 vaccine clinic, GP or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.

Bookings are already available in Greater Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs.

Vaccine bookings will be available for children living in Tennant Creek from Monday, August 23.

Children in Nhulunbuy will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine via pop-up clinics.

Territorians aged 12-15 living in remote communities will be able to access the vaccine as part of the Territory remote rollout.

More than 182,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have now been administered in the Northern Territory.

The vaccine rollout is continuing to progress with 58% of Territorians who have now received their first dose and 38% of Territorians now fully vaccinated.

We are continuing to roll out the vaccine in remote communities including Gunbalanya, Imanpa and Hart's Range this week in the Top End and Central Australia.

In Greater Darwin, children aged 12-15 are currently eligible for the vaccine if they have a medical condition that increases the risk of severe COVID-19 infection or if they are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.

Quotes from Health Minister Natasha Fyles:

"The Territory Labor Government is considering a range of options to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible children – including through the school system.

"We know the Delta strain of the virus is more infectious than every previous variant and we need to take every step to ensure we are keeping Territorians safe.

"The vaccine is available, free and effective and I want to encourage every Territorian to get vaccinated so we can reach the other side of this pandemic."
