Councillor Jenny Archibald was elected and appointed as Deputy Mayor of the City of Fremantle at a Special Council Meeting on Monday night.
Nominations were received from Cr Archibald and Cr Andrew Sullivan, with Cr Archibald winning the optional preferential secret ballot.
Cr Archibald first served on council from 1990 to 1994 and was elected as Mayor from 1994 to 1997. She was re-elected to council in 2017.
"It is a great honour to be the Deputy Mayor of our City of Fremantle and to support Hannah Fitzhardinge in her busy role as Mayor," Cr Archibald said.
The term of office is until the local government elections in October 2025.
