As noted by Assistant Minister for Sport and Community Events and Member for Brennan, Tony Sievers

We continue to invest in the Territorys community assets because we know they build vibrant communities, boost the economy and create local jobs.

This is great news for Darwin rural area.

We have worked with the Litchfield Council to ensure this funding supports their key priorities and is aligned with their master planning process.

These facilities host popular events such as community shows, concerts and local sport so it is crucial they are maintained and upgraded to provide positive, quality experiences for participants and attendees.

As noted by Litchfield Council Mayor, Maree Bredhauer

The $3 million NT Government funding has been a great benefit for the community, enhancing access and increasing connectivity between user groups with a new sealed centre road, new and upgraded electrical works across the reserve and a new toilet block for the Freds Pass Rural Markets held every Saturday.

The commitment from the NT Government of a further $2 million funding to support this regional sporting and recreation facility that hosts over 4,000 people across 24 user groups each week is good news for the community.

Litchfield Council thanks the NT Government for its continued support in providing quality facilities in our community.
