Bass Coast Shire Council has again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the local creative sector, delivering a highly engaging marketing workshop to more than 50 creatives from across the region on Tuesday.
Following the success of last year's sold-out event, this year's workshop brought together a diverse mix of artists, creative practitioners and community organisations, including potters, painters, graphic designers, punk bands and community groups.
The session provided practical tips, real-world examples and valuable insights into developing effective marketing plans to maximise success and grow creative audiences.
Attendees heard from an experienced panel of speakers including:
• Cr Brett Tessari, Bass Coast Mayor
• Greg Box, Bass Coast Shire Council CEO
• Malcolm Russell, Head of Arts, Culture and Heritage
• Laura A'Bell, Marketing and Audience Development Coordinator
• Lauren van Strijp, Acting Coordinator Business and Industry Development
All the speakers shared their expertise and advice on building strong marketing foundations and promoting creative work effectively.
The event also attracted fantastic support from local media organisations, with representatives from the Phillip Island & San Remo Advertiser, South Coast FM and ABC Gippsland in attendance, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to supporting local artists and creatives.
Beyond the presentations, participants had the opportunity to connect directly with Council staff to discuss permits, events, festivals and other opportunities available across the municipality. The workshop fostered valuable networking and collaboration, bringing together creative practitioners, Council teams and industry supporters in one place.
Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said the workshop highlighted the strength and diversity of Bass Coast's creative community.
"It was incredibly engaging to see so many talented creatives from right across our region in the one room, sharing ideas, building connections and learning from one another," Cr Tessari said.
"The breadth of creative talent in Bass Coast is truly impressive. Bringing everyone together creates a fantastic opportunity to build capacity across our region, strengthen networks and support the continued growth of our creative sector."
"It was also wonderful to see such strong collaboration between Council teams, local media and the wider creative community, all working together to support and celebrate creativity in Bass Coast."
The workshop forms part of Bass Coast Shire Council's ongoing efforts to support creative industries, encourage collaboration across the sector and provide practical opportunities for professional development and growth.
