Cricket Victoria joins Victorian Government to help keep kids safe and engaged

Cricket Victoria is proud to be one of twelve organisations selected by the Victorian Government to deliver sport and activity programs that help keep students engaged, connected, and on the right path.

Victorian Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll recently announced an expanded group of providers set to run extracurricular programs across more than 30 priority schools. Schools will have access to a menu of 25 activities available before, during, and after school hours, as well as throughout school holidays.

The initiative sits within the Victorian Government's Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), a program focused on preventing youth crime before it begins.

Through structured, accessible activities, the program aims to reduce boredom and isolation among at-risk young people, helping them attend school more regularly, grow in confidence, and develop key social skills like teamwork, communication, and respect.

Cricket has always been about more than runs and wickets. It builds character, fosters belonging, and connects communities and this partnership is a chance to bring those benefits to the young Victorians who need them most.
