Critical incident investigation launched following serious crash in Caringbah

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a serious crash in Caringbah, NSW Police say.

About 5:20pm today, officers attached to Miranda Local Area Command were patrolling Taren Point Road when they attempted to stop a Holden Commodore.

Police activated their lights and sirens and indicated for the driver to stop. It will be alleged the Commodore drove away and hit a nearby pole.

The male driver, aged 17, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being conveyed to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

A female passenger was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Three other passengers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
