Critical incident investigation, NSW

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a man was injured under non-suspicious circumstances last night, NSW Police say.

Just before 10pm yesterday, police were called to a unit on Teal Close at Green Point, following reports a man had stabbed himself with a knife.

The 41-year-old man suffered a self-inflicted injury; police at the scene attempted to subdue him, and he was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to Gosford Hospital in a serious condition.

A critical investigation team from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.

No further details are available at this time.
