Croom Dog Park Opens for Local Pups to Explore

Today, Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer officially opened the new off-leash dog park at the Croom Regional Sporting Facility.

The purpose-built space is now available for dog owners and their pets to enjoy, adding to the growing network of dog-friendly open spaces across the City.

"This new park is a fantastic place for dogs and their owners to socialise, exercise and enjoy our beautiful outdoors," Shellharbour Mayor Chris Homer said.

"Our community has around 22,000 registered dogs, which stresses the importance of providing appropriate open spaces that cater to dog owners."

Key features of the new park include:

  • Dog Agility equipment for all skill levels.
  • Secure fencing and gates for safe play.
  • Fresh turf, garden beds, and newly planted trees for shade.
  • Inclusive seating and sandstone log benches.
  • Accessible Water Station with Dog Bowl.
  • Bin facility with doggy waste bags
  • Picnic Table with Shade Shelter.
  • Seat with back rests & sandstone log benches.

The design of Croom's new dog park draws directly on community feedback gathered through the "Let's Chat" web page.

Dogs of all sizes and abilities can enjoy fun and challenging equipment including a Jump-Thru, Weave-Thru Post, Tunnel, Platform and Bridge.

These agility elements encourage exercise, play and skill-building while giving owners a great way to bond with their pets in a safe, open environment.

Croom Dog Agility Park is located northeast of John O'Dwyer Oval and adjacent to the BMX track at Croom Regional Sporting Facility.

Local dog owners are encouraged to explore all the dog-friendly spots around Shellharbour where dogs can exercise off leash, including;

  • Area west of AFL/Cricket ground at Croom Regional Sporting Complex, Croome Road, Albion Park Rail,
  • Dog Park located on Whittaker Street, Flinders
  • Dog Park located on Kingston Street, Oak Flats
  • Open space to the southern end of Jock Brown sports field, Messenger Road, Barrack Heights
  • Bass Point Tourist Road between The Shallows coastal reserve and the gravel loader
  • Alex Hoffman Park, access via Cuthbert Drive and Matthews Drive, Mount Warrigal
  • Dog Park located at Shellharbour War Memorial Park, on Benaud Crescent, Warilla
