Help us develop and expand the recently established Leiden Chinese Queer Collection (LCQC, 莱顿华语酷儿文献收藏) at Leiden University Libraries (UBL).
The recent launch of the Leiden Chinese Queer Collection is motivated by the increasingly acute need to preserve information on Chinese queer history and culture. With support from the UBL infrastructure for collection, preservation and accessibilty of primary source material, the LCQC is in a unique position to document the Chinese queer experience in its full diversity. This includes identity and community formation, social justice, legal rights, cultural production, discourses and histories of queerness, queer theories and methods in scholarship, and more. LCQC also aims to contribute to advancing gender and sexual equality and diversity through research, education, and outreach. Its steering committee includes scholars and students of various disciplinary and thematic specializations.
Leiden University Libraries already holds a solid and diverse collection of primary source material and scholarship on the Chinese queer experience in literary works, films, monographs, journal publications and other objects. Regular acquisition will allow the LCQC to grow steadily.
Your donations, wheter it be financial through this crowdfunding campaign or in the form of source material, will be crucial in the acceleration of the collection process, enabling the LCQC to diversify and expand in areas such as unofficial publications, archival material, imprints, ephemera, etc.
Donations in this fundraising campaign will be used for:
- Acquisition, description, cataloging, and conservation
- Digitisation, storage, and online access of digitally born materials.
- Events related to the aims of the LCQC (public lectures, workshops, conferences, etc.)
- Fellowships and internships that support research, education, and outreach.
Thank you for your support!
