Federation Council is proud to announce the return of the acclaimed Currawa Crossing exhibition, a cornerstone event celebrating National Reconciliation Week 2025 and beyond. Held annually from May 27 to June 3, National Reconciliation Week is a vital opportunity for all Australians to deepen their understanding of our shared histories, vibrant cultures, and remarkable achievements, while considering individual contributions to reconciliation in Australia.
The National Reconciliation Week 2025 theme, "Bridging Now to Next," resonates deeply with the spirit of the Currawa Crossing exhibition, reflecting the continuous connection between our past, present, and future.
Returning for its third successful year, the Currawa Crossing exhibition will once again showcase a compelling collection of artworks from talented Aboriginal artists across the Riverina and Murray footprint. This diverse showcase embodies the spirit of reconciliation, featuring works from artists including Stephen Berger, Patricia Cerminara, Maggih Coats, Tamara Murray, Tannah Lee, Neville Torrishe, Tammy Campbell, Aunty Pam Griffin, and Hailey Plunkett.
Adding a powerful new dimension to this year's exhibition, the Currawa Crossing will also feature the screening of eight insightful short films on Wiradjuri language and culture. These films were developed locally in the Riverina by Miil Miil Productions. Co-founded by animator Bernard Higgins of Birdyulang Animations and digital artist Elijah Ingram, Miil Miil Productions is dedicated to the vital work of preserving and sharing Aboriginal language and heritage through innovative digital films, animations, and immersive experiences. The films will be continuously screened for the duration of the exhibition.
Art lovers and community members are invited to view the Currawa Crossing exhibition free of charge at the Corowa Art Space. The exhibition officially opens on Wednesday, May 28th, and will remain on display until the conclusion of NAIDOC Week on Saturday, July 13th.
