Dandenong arrest worth its weight in gold

Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged a man after a commercial amount of drugs, quantity of cash and bars of gold were discovered at a Dandenong residence last week.

Police executed a search warrant at a De Villiers Street home on 31 May, finding significant quantities of substances alleged to be methyl amphetamine and cannabis, as well as a large amount of cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime, and a number of gold bullions.

A 26-year-old Dandenong man was arrested at the scene.

He has since been charged with:

• two counts each of traffick and possess a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence;

• traffick a drug of dependence;

• two counts of possess drug of dependence; and

• deal in the proceeds of crime.

The man has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 26 August.

A second man, also 26-years-old, was arrested and interview and was released pending summons.
