Dangerous operation of e-bicycle, Fortitude Valley

A man has been charged following a collision between an electric bicycle and motorcycle in Fortitude Valley in September.

Just after midnight on September 12, the rider of the rideshare bicycle allegedly crossed the intersection of Ann and Gipps streets against a red pedestrian light.

A motorcyclist travelling through the intersection collided with the bicycle.

The electric bicycle rider was thrown into nearby bushes as a result of the collision and allegedly ran from the scene.

A 61-year-old Wynnum man riding the motorcycle sustained serious injuries.

Fortitude Valley police today charged a 19-year-old Clayfield man with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and leaving the scene of the incident without obtaining help.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 1, 2022.
