Daniel Peat to Advocate for ISDS at Settlement Reform Talks

Daniel Peat will represent the ISDS Academic Forum, a group of over 150 academics whose research focusses on investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS), at forthcoming discussions on the reform of the ISDS system taking place in New York.

The discussions will take place in the context of UNCITRAL Working Group III, in which states, investors' representatives, and non-governmental organisations have been discussing reform of the ISDS system since late 2017. The reform debates have now reached the delivery phase, in which concrete proposals for institutional creation/reform are being discussed. The forthcoming session will focus on the establishment of an Advisory Centre for ISDS disputes and initial discussions regarding the creation of a standing mechanism for the settlement of ISDS disputes.
