Cr Darcy Lound has been re-elected unopposed as Mayor of Campbelltown following last night's Council meeting.
Cr Lound, who has served on Council since 2012 and was elected as Mayor in 2024, will continue as Mayor until the next local government elections in September 2028.
Cr Masood Chowdhury has been elected Deputy Mayor following a vote by councillors and will serve in the role for the first time since being elected to Council in 2016.
"I am honoured to continue serving as Mayor and look forward to building on the work we are doing to deliver important projects and initiatives for our community," Cr Lound said.
"In the past two years, we've taken great strides in improving our public spaces, public spaces, parks, roads and sporting facilities, delivering upgrades that improve the everyday lives of our residents. This includes footpath and parking improvements at Ingleburn Reserve, road resurfacing projects across the city, extensive tree planting programs, the fantastic new playground at Koshigaya Park, and new amenities at Bensley Road Reserve," he said.
"One of my key priorities is ensuring our community has a strong voice in the future of our city, which is why we've continued to provide regular opportunities for residents to speak directly with Council through community forums, workshops and engagement opportunities across the city.
"I look forward to working alongside Cr Chowdhury and congratulate him on his election as Deputy Mayor.
"I'd also like to thank Cr Karen Hunt and Cr Jayden Rivera, who each served a term as Deputy Mayor, for their great support during my first term."
