The $2.7 million project on Darraweit Road in Wallan is continuing, with the intersection of Darraweit Road and Acacia Way temporarily closing from Monday 22 September to allow critical works to progress.
Darraweit Road is being upgraded with underground drainage, kerbing, and reconstruction of the road pavement to deliver a safer and more durable road for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Footpath works began in April, with road construction commencing in June. Rocks and wet weather have caused some delays, with the project now expected to be completed by December.
The project forms part of the Australian Government's $11 million commitment towards the Macedon and Mitchell Shire Roads project, with $5.5 million allocated to Darraweit Road and Wellington Street upgrades. Mitchell Shire Council is also contributing $200,000 towards the works.
