Dates Confirmed For 2026 Alice Springs Masters Games

The Finocchiaro CLP Government has confirmed the return of one of Australia's most iconic sporting festivals, the Alice Springs Masters Games, with the 2026 Games locked in for 10 to 17 October 2026.

The 2026 edition marks the next chapter in our election commitment to back the Masters Games and reaffirm Alice Springs as a must-visit destination for competitors, supporters and tourists alike.

Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Minister for Major Events Marie-Clare Boothby said: "Alice Springs is the spiritual home of the Masters Games and this is what delivering certainty looks like."

"The CLP Government promised to fully support the Alice Springs Masters Games - we delivered in 2024, and we're doing it again in 2026," she said.

"This is the year of action, certainty and security, and we're working across government to ensure the next Games are even bigger.

"From elite athletes to weekend warriors, this event captures the spirit of competition, community and the Territory lifestyle. With new sports and stronger support behind the scenes, 2026 will be a celebration of everything that makes the Territory unique."

Building on the success of the 2024 Games, which attracted over 1,200 participants, 267 volunteers, and generated $2.6 million in economic stimulus for Alice Springs, the 2026 event will include:

Over 20 sports, with the return of Swimming, and exciting additions Pickleball and Bridge.A week of friendly competition across 26 venues.Continued support from Games Ambassador Nathan Buckley and Games Patron Dawn Fraser.A major campaign to attract new and returning competitors, families and tourists to the Red Centre.

Minister for People, Sport and Culture Jinson Charls said: "The Alice Springs Masters Games hold a special place in Australia's sporting landscape, and we are incredibly proud to confirm the continuation of this iconic event in 2026 for its 19th edition."

"The event promises another fun and inclusive Games with the exciting addition of Bridge and Pickleball, alongside the welcome return of Swimming," said Mr Charls.

Member for Braitling Josh Burgoyne said: "This event provides significant social and economic benefits to Alice Springs."

"It also offers a unique opportunity for athletes from across the nation to compete and explore our stunning backyard," he said.

Swimming NT chief executive officer Warren Dopson said: "Swimming Northern Territory is absolutely thrilled to see swimming return to the sports program for the 2026 Alice Springs Masters Games."

"As Australia's favourite Olympic sport and largest participation activity, it is important that swimming is available at these multi-sport celebrations," he said.

Registrations open on Friday 10 October 2025.
