DCI Data Centers is set to open its third data centre in Australia after securing approval to build a new 36 MW facility in Sydney.
The A$400 million facility, named SYD02, will be a purpose-built project with physical security and Tier III resilience. It is specifically designed for public and private hyperscale cloud, content and managed services providers.
The new facility is located next to DCI's first data centre, close to Sydney's key data centres and connectivity hubs, enabling direct and low latency access to the city. It will utilise new cooling technologies and higher average power densities.
'The team are delighted to have secured this approval which will be a crucial part of our three-stage strategy for this key site,' says Malcolm Roe, DCI's Chief Executive Officer.
'We are also very excited to be leading the industry in delivering new cooling technologies to significantly enhance our power utilisation effectiveness and minimising our impact on the environment.'
The SYD02 data centre is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2022. Its construction and ongoing operational management is expected to create employment for the local community.
DCI Data Centers owns and operates data centres from the core to the edge. Its customers range from cloud and managed service providers to government, defence and enterprises. The company has a third data centre in Adelaide, in addition to the two facilities in Sydney.
