Defect leads to weapons find, South Australia

Police found weapons during a traffic stop in the city overnight.

A patrol's attention was drawn to an older model Commodore travelling along Pulteney Street, Adelaide about 4.20am on Wednesday 6 March. The patrol inspected the vehicle and issued several defects.

While examining the car, police discovered an imitation firearm behind the driver's seat along with two tasers, two extendable batons and an ice pipe.

The driver, a 29-year-old Elizabeth Park man, was arrested and charged with two counts of possess prohibited weapon, two counts of possess dangerous article and possess imitation firearm.

He is currently being interviewed and may face court later today.
