Defence Min. Blair Hails New Military Grievance Review Members

National Defence

Today, the Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Bill Blair, welcomed two new key appointments to the Military Grievances External Review Committee (MGERC):

  • Kelly Walsh -- Chairperson (full time) for a term of four years, effective May 2, 2024; and
  • William Quinn -- Vice-Chairperson (full time) for a term of four years, effective April 11, 2024. William Quinn joins François Malo, also current Vice-Chairperson of the MGERC.

Minister Blair thanks Vihar Joshi for his work over the past year as the Interim Chair of the Committee.

MGERC reviews military grievances and provides findings and recommendations to the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member who submitted the grievance. The Committee is an administrative tribunal independent from the CAF and the Department of National Defence and, as such, plays a unique role within the military grievance process.
