Delivering Upgrades In And Around Eltham North

VIC Premier

Two intersection upgrades along Ryans Road will improve traffic flow and safety while supporting the growing Eltham North community for years to come.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said the upgrades would benefit all road users travelling to nearby schools, shops and other amenities, as well as the future Eltham-area Community Hospital.

Works will take place in two stages at the intersection of Ryans Road and Wattletree Road, followed by the intersection of Ryans Road, Wallowa Road and Allendale Road.

As part of the works, upgrades will be made to footpaths and bus stops to improve pedestrian access and connectivity, especially for local school students. Upgrades to street lighting and line marking will also improve driver awareness and visibility.

At the intersection of Ryans Road, Wallowa Road and Allendale Road, new controlled right turn traffic signals and road widening will reduce the risk of crashes.

When works are complete, a safer speed of 60km/h will be implemented on Ryans Road and Wattletree Road between Laurel Hill Drive, Eltham North and Kim Street, Diamond Creek - making it consistent with surrounding roads.

Works are also ramping up on the Hurstbridge Line Duplication Project which will deliver two brand-new train stations and more car park spaces at Greensborough and Montmorency, along with a bus interchange at Greensborough.

More car park spaces are also being delivered at Eltham Station, making it easier for locals to catch the train.

As stated by Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll

"Only Labor is getting on with delivering important upgrades in and around Eltham to ensure locals can get where they need to go reliably and safely."

As stated by Member for Eltham Vicki Ward

"We know that Ryans Road is an important connection to local schools and shops, as well as the future Community Hospital, which is why it is vital we deliver these transport improvements to support the community into the future."
