Dendy Village Pedestrian Crossing Construction Starts

Works on a new raised signalised pedestrian crossing at Dendy Village on Hampton Street in Brighton are expected to commence in February 2026.

The new crossing is being installed by the Victorian Government and aims to improve pedestrian safety and access to local shops, services and homes.

The works will take place at night between 10pm and 6am, from Sundays to Thursdays.

During the night works there will be:

  • A lane closure on Hampton Street between Marriage Road and Pine Street.
  • A heavy vehicle detour via Centre Road, Nepean Highway, Cummins Road and South Road
  • Medium to high levels of noise
  • Some dust around the work site
  • No parking during works on this section of Hampton Street
  • A 40km/h speed limit.

Residential and private property access will be maintained. If you require access during works, please speak to a traffic management controller.

The works are expected to be completed by April 2026, subject to favourable weather conditions.

There may be a delay between the completion of the works and the switching on of the pedestrian lights subject to connection and activation by the external power authority.
