On October 5, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman attended the third U.S.-Mexico High-Level Security Dialogue alongside Secretary of State Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas, U.S. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, White House Homeland Security Advisor Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, and other senior U.S. government officials.
The U.S.-Mexico partnership is central to securing our shared border, advancing economic growth, and expanding markets for U.S. businesses. The Dialogue highlighted key bilateral advances in protecting our people, preventing transborder crime, and pursuing crime networks, as prioritized in the Bicentennial Framework for Security, Public Health, and Safe Communities. Deputy Administrator Coleman discussed USAID support for this Framework, including USAID's collaboration with Mexican institutions to prevent violence and recidivism, identify disappeared individuals, and reduce impunity, especially in cases of gender-based violence. She also underscored our shared commitment and responsibility to resolve safety and security challenges.
After attending the U.S.-Mexico High-Level Security Dialogue, Deputy Administrator Coleman met with staff from USAID's Mission in Mexico, and thanked them for their exceptional commitment to supporting the people of Mexico and the U.S.-Mexico partnership. Deputy Administrator Coleman then met with Mexican civil society leaders to discuss their efforts to address key security, governance, and human rights issues. Deputy Administrator Coleman underscored USAID's longstanding support and appreciation for the work of Mexican civil society.
