The City of Perth will invest $1.1 million to help deliver a vibrant program of arts and cultural experiences across the city over the next three years.
At its August meeting, City of Perth Council endorsed an arts and culture sponsorship program that will bring world-class theatre, dance, music, opera and visual arts experiences into the heart of Perth.
The funding will support nine organisations, including Black Swan State Theatre Company, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), West Australian Ballet, West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO), West Australian Opera, The Lester Prize, Indian Ocean Craft Triennial, Co3 Contemporary Dance Australia and FORM.
These projects will bring more performances, exhibitions, festivals and creative experiences into the heart of Perth, attracting visitors and supporting local businesses.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said a strong arts and culture offering was essential to creating a vibrant and liveable capital city.
"A thriving arts and culture scene is a vital part of what makes Perth a vibrant and dynamic capital city," he said.
"It draws people into the city, inspires creativity and gives locals and visitors new reasons to explore.
"This funding will bring an exciting mix of creative organisations to the city, delivering high-quality performances, exhibitions and events.
"These experiences also bring more people into the city, creating a boost for the businesses that make Perth such a great place to visit, work and spend time."
The supported program consists of 9 sponsorships:
- Black Swan State Theatre Company - Theatre in the City
- Perth Institute Contemporary Arts - Creative Precinct Partnership
- West Australian Ballet - Ballet in the City
- West Australian Symphony Orchestra - Serenade in the City
- West Australian Opera - Opera in the City
- The Lester Prize for Portraiture - Main Awards and Youth Awards
- Indian Ocean Craft Triennial - IOTA in the City
- Co3 Contemporary Dance Australia - HILL x MOTIN
- FORM - FRONT
The funding will be provided across three financial years, subject to sponsorship agreements being finalised.
Council also endorsed sponsorship for Perth Festival 2027 to support the delivery of the internationally recognised festival.
