Deputy PM Meets with Québec Finance Minister 5 July

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, met today in Québec City with Québec's Minister of Finance, Eric Girard. The meeting reaffirmed the strong spirit of collaboration shared by the governments of Canada and Québec.

The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the federal government's steadfast support for communities in Québec that are coping with the effects of devastating wildfires. The Deputy Prime Minister and Québec's Finance Minister agreed on the need to continue to take action to fight climate change.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Québec's Finance Minister discussed opportunities to create good careers for people across Québec by working together and investing in the clean economy. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of maintaining Canada's AAA credit rating, and both the Deputy Prime Minister and the Finance Minister agreed on the necessity of continued fiscal responsibility on the part of both the federal and Québec governments.

The Deputy Prime Minister and the Finance Minister agreed to continue working together to deliver for people and communities across Québec.
