Backed by institutional investment led by Hoxton Ventures and new laboratory facilities, Eterna Regeneratives is ready to commercialise their first product, focused on regrowth of tooth enamel.

Enamel damage affects many people during their lifetime, yet once this protective layer is lost, the body cannot naturally regenerate it. Its deterioration can lead to sensitivity, tooth decay and long-term dental problems. Current treatments are limited, and mainly strengthen the remaining tissue, or replace it with synthetic materials, instead of focusing on rebuilding what was lost.
Founded in 2024 by Dr Sherif Elsharkawy and Khaled Eissa, Eterna Regeneratives is developing a patented keratin-based biomaterial that is designed to stimulate a mineralisation process directly on the tooth surface, helping teeth rebuild an enamel-like layer. In vitro testing showed formation of a new, enamel-like layer directly on the tooth surface with much of the hardness and strength of healthy enamel. This technology revolutionises the tooth repair industry by biomimetically repairing enamel damage, instead of relying on treatments that primarily manage its symptoms.
Khaled Eissa, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Eterna Regeneratives, said:
"The only way to truly heal the human body is to help it heal itself. We wanted to create a product that is readily available, scalable, and has the potential to deliver long-term results."
Moving beyond proof of concept
The new investment will help Eterna accelerate product development, expand research and prepare its first product for market entry. By embedding the material into products such as toothpaste, mouthwash, and a professionally applied product, the company aims to bring the enamel repair technology directly to consumers by early 2027. New facilities at Kadans London Innovation Centre in Canary Wharf will also support this growth.
"This investment lets us move from lab-based proof of concept to real-world products at pace," said Dr Sherif Elsharkawy, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Eterna Regeneratives.
"It is a validation of years of research, and a step change in how quickly we can bring this technology to patients."
Expansion into bone regeneration
Alongside enamel repair, Eterna is expanding its regenerative biomaterials platform, with future focus on bone repair. The company's progress has attracted investor interest. Hussein Kanji, Founding Partner at Hoxton Ventures, said:
"Eterna is the kind of company we bet on early: it's built on powerful, defensible science with a clear and capital-efficient route to market."
He added:
"Its technology has the potential to transform everyday oral-care products from tools that manage enamel loss into products that help repair it, while opening the door to broader applications in tissue and bone regeneration."
