DeSantis Updates State's Hurricane Isaias Preparations

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis was joined by Florida Division of Emergency Management Executive Director Jared Perdue at the State Emergency Operations Center to provide updates on preparedness efforts for Hurricane Isaias.

As of 5:00 p.m. EDT, Hurricane Isaias was located over the south-central Gulf of America, moving northeast at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph. The storm is forecast to strengthen into a strong Category 2 hurricane overnight, with maximum sustained winds reaching 110 mph, before making landfall in the extreme Western Panhandle Friday night or early Saturday morning. Tropical storm-force winds could begin impacting the western Panhandle as early as midday Friday.

Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 26-202 , amending EO-26-211 and declaring a state of emergency for 27 Florida counties.

More than 6,000 linemen and restoration personnel are standing by to support power restoration efforts following Hurricane Isaias.
