Detectives Charge Teens After Shootings, Arson Probe

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged two teenagers following an investigation into two drive-by shootings and three vehicle fires under Strike Force Magar.

Strike Force Magar was established in January 2026, by State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and detectives from St George Police Area Command after it was determined the attacks were allegedly linked to acts of extortion by an Organised Crime Network against two men.

  • On Sunday 2 November 2025, emergency services were called Sellwood Street, Brighton Le Sands, following reports of a car fire where detectives allege two unknown men set the sedan alight leaving fleeing the scene.
  • On Friday 21 November 2025, emergency services were called to Evans Street, San Souci, following reports of a fire, where detectives allege two unknown men set four vehicles alight before leaving the scene.
  • On Saturday 13 December 2025, emergency services were called to Locksley Road, Bexley, following reports of a car fire, where detectives allege an unknown man set the Ute alight before leaving the scene.
  • On Monday 19 January 2026, emergency services were called to Locksley Road, Bexley, following reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find shots were fired at multiple parked vehicles and a home, before the gunmen left the scene in a red sedan. No one was injured.
  • On Friday 30 January 2026, emergency services were called to Sellwood Street, Brighton Le Sands following reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find shots were fires into a property, before the gunmen left the scene in a white Ute. No one was injured.

Following extensive inquiries, about 5.30am today (Tuesday 24 February 2026), strike force detectives - with assistance from St George Police Area Command - executed two search warrants in Guildford and arrested two teenagers, believed to be allegedly involved in the Bexley drive-by-shooting.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with fire firearm at dwelling-house disregard for safety and take & drive conveyance without consent of owner.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to Granville and charged with fire firearm at dwelling-house disregard for safety and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

Both teenagers were refused bail to appear at Children's Court today (Tuesday 24 February 2026).

Investigations under Strike Force Magar are ongoing.
