Detectives Charge Three in Gregory Hills Shooting

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged three men following an alleged public place shooting in Sydney's south west last year.

About 8.30am on Friday 5 December 2025, emergency services were called to Steer Road, Gregory Hills, following reports of a public place shooting.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were told two men allegedly armed with pistols, approached a 48-year-old man outside a gym, and fired twelve rounds at him.

The man was uninjured and ran to safety, while the two alleged shooters left in a red Range Rover SUV.

A short time later, the SUV was located at Macquarie Grove Road, Cobbitty, where in nearby bushland, police allegedly found clothing, masks, cloned number plates and two pistols.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command commenced an investigation, before it was handed over to State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad under Strike Force Foss.

Following extensive inquiries, about 5am on Monday 30 March 2026 strike force detectives – with assistance of State Crime Command's Raptor Squad – executed a search warrant in Parramatta.

During the search, a 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with shoot at with intent to murder and knowingly direct activities of criminal group.

About 6.10am the same day, strike force detectives – with assistance of Raptor Squad – executed a search warrant in Burwood.

A 32-year-old man was arrested during the search warrant and taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with shoot at with intent to murder, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and acquire pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order.

Both men were refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Monday (30 March 2026) where they were both formally refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday 28 May 2026.

As inquiries continued, about 10am yesterday (Tuesday 31 March 2026) strike force detectives arrested a 38-year-old man in Silverwater and charged him with shoot at with intent to murder, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and acquire pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order.

He was remanded in custody to face Bail Division Local Court 6 today (Wednesday 1 April 2026).

Inquiries under Strike Force Foss are ongoing.
