The $60 million Sports Complex includes a three-court indoor community hall, a three-court show hall, outdoor courts, administration facilities and high-performance training facilities.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the project was the realisation of a vision crafted through extensive consultation with local sporting organisations, the Devonport City Council, the Australian Government, community groups and residents," Premier Rockliff said.

"It is thanks to the insight, feedback and hard work of so many that we are now breaking ground on this fantastic community sports project.

"We are delivering for Tasmania, with this Sports Complex set to become a major economic driver for the region, generating an estimated $118 million in local economic activity.

"As well as being a boost for the local economy, the project will create more than 360 jobs during construction, providing valuable employment and upskilling opportunities.

"Together, we are delivering for generations of North West Coasters by investing in facilities that will service this region for decades."

"Our Government is building the sporting facilities future generations will need. This development is the perfect example of our Government working together to move Tasmania forward."
