Diamond Creek Netball Courts get Premier boost

This is a photograph of Premier Daniel Andrews with local MPs, Councillors and members of the Diamond Creek Force Netball Association at the Diamond Creek netball courts.

Two courts at the Diamond Creek netball complex will be permanently shielded from the elements after a $1 million funding announcement by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews today.

The Premier made the announcement, which will see the construction of weather resistant roofing for two adjoining courts, during a visit with Minister for Community Sport and Youth, Ros Spence.

The announcement follows the official opening of the fully refurbished complex in March, a project which included construction of a new pavilion and a full resurfacing of the courts.

Nillumbik Mayor Frances Eyre said the announcement was a further boost to an already outstanding community asset.

"I would like to thank the Premier for this funding, which maintains our record of successful collaboration with the Victorian Government, to deliver for our community," she said.

"I would also like to thank Eltham MP Vicki Ward and Yan Yean MP Danielle Green for their tireless advocacy on Council and the community's behalf.

"Our most recent club development survey showed that netball is the most popular participation sport for women and girls in Nillumbik. It's vital therefore that our facilities reflect and cater to the communities we live in and are as accessible and user-friendly as possible."

The roofing, funded in the latest Victorian Budget, further enhances this major local and regional sporting complex. It follows the recent completion of a new pavilion and court resurfacing at a cost of almost $5million, the majority of which was through Victorian Government funding.

The Nillumbik Force Netball Association has more than 100 teams and 1200 players.
