Don the gloves and dig in for a fantastic cause at Mabel Park this National Tree Day.
Logan City Council is calling on locals to roll up their sleeves and help plant 2000 native trees on Sunday, July 31.
The free event, conducted in association with Planet Ark, is from 8am-10am.
City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski, said the community tree planting event was a fun way to help the local environment.
"Protecting and enhancing our natural environment is important to our community," Cr Koranski said.
"The preservation of our green canopy has been nationally recognised and helping Council plant more trees ensures that our healthy and beautiful natural environment is sustainable and can be enjoyed for generations to come."
Volunteers will plant a range of native groundcover, shrubs and trees as part of the native habitat enhancement.
Plants, gloves and equipment will be supplied, as well as refreshments and a sausage sizzle.
Division 3 Councillor, Mindy Russell, urged volunteers to get involved.
"I can't think of a better way to celebrate National Tree Day than by making our part of the city even more green," Cr Russell said.
"We know many hands make light work, so the more people we can get to Mabel Park, the better."
Participants are urged to wear enclosed shoes and sun protection and bring water.
The event is suitable for children. Parental supervision is required.
Mabel Park is on Paradise Road at Slacks Creek. Onsite parking is available.
