More than 1.8 million Victorians have downloaded their digital driver licence since it was launched by the Allan Labor Government one year ago.
Since the launch, 1.5 million full licence holders and 323,000 learner and probationary licence holders have downloaded the technology.
More than one third of eligible licence holders have accessed their driver, motorcycle, and heavy vehicle licences safely and securely via the myVicRoads and Service Victoria apps.
An average of almost 35,000 digital driver licences per week have been activated by Victorians since they were introduced one year ago.
Feedback from Victorians has been overwhelmingly positive, with ease of use and convenience being the most common reasons for people embracing the technology.
Physical licences are still being issued for all Victorian drivers and can continue to be used for identification purposes - the digital driver licence is optional.
Drivers can add their digital licence to the Service Victoria app or myVicRoads app on their smartphone.
The digital driver licence has a highly secure, timed QR code that can be scanned by businesses and other authorities to verify authenticity and prevent fraudulent use. Digital licences also detail when a licence has been cancelled or suspended.
The licences can also be updated in real-time if there are changes to licence conditions or personal information like home addresses.
