Disaster assistance is now available in Baw Baw, East Gippsland, Macedon Ranges and Wellington Shire regions following severe storms that hit the area on 12 November 2021.

Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie said strong winds and heavy rainfall caused significant widespread damage in much of Victoria's eastern regions.

"The severe weather event caused numerous road closures, trees over roads, landslips, damage to critical infrastructure and residential properties, while very heavy rain caused localised flooding," Minister McKenzie said.

"The event required a multi-agency response involving affected councils, the SES and Regional Roads Victoria, who were supported by a range of other agencies and organisations. We continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with these communities to assist in repairing the damage caused by these events.

"An extensive clean-up is already underway and this disaster assistance will provide a range of practical assistance measures to help councils and other government agencies and organisations with counter disaster operations and the restoration of damaged essential public assets."

Victorian Minister for Emergency Services Jaclyn Symes said the funding would help communities with the recovery process.

"The clean-up and recovery from disaster takes a long time, and we'll be standing with storm and flood affected Victorians for as long as it takes for them to get back on their feet."
