Discover how complex world of planning affects you

Monday 26 August, 6.30pm

Willoughby City Council Chambers

Level 6, 31 Victoria Street, Chatswood

Willoughby locals are invited to find out how the world of planning affects their suburb as Willoughby City Council unpacks the complex world of the NSW planning system at its first Community Information Seminar this month.

Chaired by Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney, the seminars are an innovative new way for Council to engage with the community. They are an opportunity for you to hear about significant issues and projects and to ask questions.

The planning focused seminar will feature a presentation by Greg McDonald, Director Planning and Infrastructure, Willoughby City Council who will explain the State legislation and how Council manages the planning process.

Mr McDonald will describe Council's planning instruments and controls and reveal how it undertakes strategic planning, from city plans to zoning, and how this translates to development. Residents can also discover what Council does when it receives an application for development and the process that follows.

The seminar will also feature a presentation by Stuart Hodgson, Sydney Metro's Acting Director Sustainability Environment and Planning who will provide residents with an opportunity to hear firsthand how the Sydney Metro projects will benefit them, explaining the metro concept and how it complements existing public transport.

Held up to ten times a year on the fourth Monday of each month, seminars will feature topics presented by an expert from Council, state government or other agency.

A video of each presentation will be available to download from Council's website for those who are unable to attend.
