Residents looking to give back to their community are encouraged to attend the Camden Volunteer Expo later this month, with more than 30 local organisations set to showcase a diverse range of volunteering opportunities.
Taking place on Saturday 26 September, 10am-2pm, at the Camden Civic Centre, the free community event will connect residents with organisations working across animal welfare, emergency support, disability services, community care, youth, the environment, education and much more.
Organisations attending the Expo will include:
- PAWS Pet Therapy;
- Lifeline Macarthur and Western Sydney;
- South West Community Transport;
- Rotary Club of Camden Inc;
- Little Wings;
- Assistance Dogs Australia;
- New South Wales Justices Association;
- Stem Cell Donors Australia;
- The Blue Butterfly Institute;
- Camden Meals on Wheels;
- Big Yellow Umbrella;
- Vinnies NSW;
- Macarthur Disability Services;
- Camden Musical Society;
- GambleAware South Western Sydney; and
- Search Dogs Sydney Incorporated.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the Expo highlighted the incredible work being carried out by local organisations and the many ways residents could get involved.
"You might only have a few hours to spare each month or maybe you're looking for a more regular volunteering opportunity - whatever your situation and capacity to help is, there will be something suitable for you at this event," she said.
"There will also be organisations that meet all kinds of interests and skills. Whether it's supporting vulnerable members of our community, caring for animals, helping at local events, protecting our environment or mentoring young people, volunteering comes in many forms.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to meet local organisations face-to-face, learn about the important work they do and find out how your time and skills could make a real difference."
The family-friendly event will also feature face painting for children, a sausage sizzle and coffee available from the Camden Civic Centre café.
