Disqualified Driver Charged With Drug, Driving Offences

A woman has been charged with multiple driving and drug-related offences after police intercepted a vehicle at Sorell overnight.

Officers from Southern Traffic and Policing Services intercepted the unregistered vehicle about 10.30pm.

Police spoke with a 59-year-old woman driving the vehicle, who was unlicensed and disqualified from driving until September, 2025.

The woman also returned a positive reading on a roadside drug test.

Police located a quantity of cannabis in the vehicle, as well as a taser.

The driver was arrested and charged with drive whilst disqualified, possess prohibited item, drive unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle, and drug offences.

She was detained to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
