Diversions in place after crash in Wallerawang

Diversions are in place after a serious crash west of Lithgow.

About 6.30pm today, a Toyota Camry was travelling west on the Great Western Highway at Wallerawang, when it collided head-on with a semi-trailer which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The 47-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the Camry was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time before being freed, NSW Police say.

She was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition, with leg fractures, chest injuries, head injuries, and internal injuries.

The male truck driver was uninjured. He was taken to Lithgow Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Westbound lanes have been reopened, however diversions remain in place for eastbound traffic via Range Road, Piper Point Road and Barden Avenue.

Crime scene specialists will attend the scene to conduct an investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
