Bayside Council's first Diwali festival lit up the heart of Rockdale with huge crowds enjoying a vibrant night festival featuring dazzling light displays, authentic cuisine and cultural performances transforming King Street Mall, Rockdale, into a glowing hub of activity.
Bayside's Diwali celebration showcased Bollywood dancing and cultural performances, intricate henna art, craft workshops, rangoli displays, authentic Nepali and Indian cuisine, sweet treats, Diwali crafts for children, Dhol drummers and roaming performers. Families and friends gathered to savour the joyful atmosphere created by lanterns and sparkling light displays.
Diwali, the Festival of Light, is a special time for everyone to gather and celebrate, reflecting on the year behind and looking forward with hope to what lies ahead, to reflect on the triumph of light over darkness.
Bayside Council, with a large multicultural population, continues to provide opportunities where residents of all cultures and faiths can come together to celebrate.
This festival was supported by a Permit, Plug, Play grant funded through Transport for NSW.
Mayor Edward McDougall said
